Marie Long graduated in 2002 with a Masters in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University with an emphasis in Osteopathic Manual Therapy Techniques. She has developed these manual skills with post-graduate courses through North American Institute of Manual Therapy and has completed her Certification in Orthopedic Manual-Manipulative Therapy (COMT). As a Certified ASTYM provider, Marie effectively treats chronic tissue injures resulting from poor movement patterns, poor healing of chronic injured tissues, post-surgical restrictions, edema, and soft tissue restrictions.
Marie provides complete patient care through development of individualized plans integrating education, self-care techniques, home programs, and specialized manual therapy. Areas of interest include a variety of musculoskeletal dysfunctions including acute and chronic spinal pain, headaches, upper cervical pain, and the extremities.
Marie has also completed training through the APTA for the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction. She is able to help with conditions such as urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, constipation and interstitial cystitis. Marie uses an integrative approach to treatment which includes education, exercise, training in behavioral changes, manual therapy and direct pelvic floor techniques depending on the needs of the individual.
Outside of the clinic, Marie enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends, working on house projects, spending time with her dogs, and continual learning through reading and continuing education courses.
